I am a mental health therapist in Virginia and it is so disgusting that I cannot even afford insurance let alone mental health treatment or medication because of how little I make despite the degrees. $35K a year with no benefits or paid time off and $130K of student loans. You must have passion for others to successfully do this job considering the pay and benefits.
My clients suffer even more. It’s sad and upsetting.
